My focus is on the peptide biochemistry and molecular biology of venom peptides from our in-lab fish-hunting cone snails. I am interested in folding venom into their active forms from sequences we specifically select from deep amplicon sequencing.

I focus both on the neurophysiology aspects of research as well as biochemical and genetic aspects. I am interested in looking at the effects of venom peptides on isolated spinal neurons of adult zebrafish as well as analyzing sequences of our cone snail’s venom.

I focus on the neurophysiology aspects of our research, specifically the effects of venom peptides on adult zebrafish spinal neurons that I isolate via our novel primary cell culture preparation. I am interested in researching the A-superfamily of conotoxins and their molecular targets on the zebrafish model.

Biology, 2022

I am currently focused on the neurophysiology aspect of our research.  Currently, we conduct novel primary cell cultures on adult zebrafish spinal neurons and use those cells for a diverse array of electrophysiological studies. I am particularly interested in how these adult zebrafish neurons react to neurotoxins, such as those found in cone snails.
